WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF JUDICIAL PROGRAMS

Policies & Procedures

Policies and procedures are the techniques that an institution develops so that a large number of people can do a wide variety of activities with a minimum of confusion. At Washington University, we try to keep the number of policies and procedures to a minimum in order to allow individuals freedom to pursue their academic and personal goals. All policies at Washington University have one of four purposes:

  • To protect the rights of members of, or visitors to, the University Community;
  • To protect the health and safety of members of, or visitors to, the University Community;
  • To protect the academic integrity of the University;
  • To protect University and personal property.

As a general guide, bear in mind these purposes and use common sense. A number of student, faculty and administrative committees exist to review policies and procedures. If you have suggestions or comments, contact the Director of Judicial Programs at 935-4174.

Each academic and administrative unit has its own policies and procedures available through the appropriate office. Policies which may affect WU undergraduate and graduate students are published in Bearings and The Residential College Handbook. Residents and their guests will be assumed to be familiar with the rules.
